After you download

macOS

  1. Open the downloaded file to unzip it, then drag QuillSail into your Applications folder.
  2. Open QuillSail. If macOS says it can't check the app, open System Settings → Privacy & Security and choose Open Anyway.

Windows

  1. Right-click the downloaded file and choose Extract All. Keep the extracted QuillSail folder together.
  2. Open QuillSail.exe. If Windows SmartScreen appears, choose More info, then Run anyway.

Linux

  1. Extract the archive with tar -xzf QuillSail-*-linux-x86_64.tar.gz and keep the QuillSail folder together.
  2. Run QuillSail/QuillSail. A minimal system may need a few desktop libraries first.

Run QuillSail on a server

Docker Compose

From a checkout of the repository, copy the example settings and start the web, worker and init containers. The site opens on port 8080.

Python package

Install the wheel in a virtual environment with Python 3.11 or newer, then run quillsail init.

Register a server once, then update it with one command. It backs up, migrates, checks health and recovers from failures.

How downloads are checked

Every file on this page is listed in QuillSail's signed release feed, the same one the app uses for updates. This site checks the feed's signatures before it offers a download, and the terminal installer checks each file's size and SHA-256 checksum before installing it. Release information was last checked October 30, 2026 at 11:40 UTC.

These are beta builds. The Mac apps aren't notarized by Apple, and the Windows app isn't code-signed yet, so your computer may ask you to confirm the first time you open QuillSail.
